COMMUNITY PLAN UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2019
The Community Plan presented to the Village back in February has been approved by the East Bridgford Parish Council and the Plan now moves onto the Implementation Phase. As a result, the Community Plan Group has closed its bank account refunding the balance to the EBPC.
The Parish Council has set up a Community Plan Liaison Group – Cllrs Tracey Strutt, Joanne Riddle, Paul Bancroft and Julz Dawson – which will meet informally with members of the Community Plan Group and other village groups to consider issues that can later be discussed at formal Parish Council meetings.
The first meeting with this Liaison Group has already been held. It focused on "Communication and Community Involvement in East Bridgford". A full report is downloadable in pdf form:

COMMUNITY PLAN UPDATE APRIL/MAY 2019
Following the presentation of the Community Plan at a village meeting on 21st February, the Community Plan Group Steering Group has concentrated on two important issues:
* moving from the Community Plan as a document to making things actually happen.
* responding to an Outline Planning Application, arising from Rushcliffe Local Plan 2, which will permit some development in the Green Belt. At the time of writing the Planning Inspector's decision on the RBC Local Plan 2 has not been announced.

The conveners of the following groups are calling opening meetings to set up their own group's ways of working and the level of involvement – active or merely wishing to be kept informed.
CIVIC SOCIETY GROUP Convener – David Atkins
For all interested in maintaining EB's Individuality, Look and Character in challenging times. The next few years will be critical as two new development into the Green Belt on the east side of the village off Butt Lane constitute the biggest expansion in EB's history.

TRAFFIC & ROADS GROUP Convener – Douglas Sutherland
Focusing on improving: Parking; Excessive 'rat runs' & Speeding; Roads & Pavements

ENVIRONMENT/BIODIVERSITY/WILDLIFE GROUP – Convener Jack Rieley
For those interested in: the Environment (Recycling/Energy resources/Green Belt/Climate change); Wildlife and Biodiversity; Springdale Wood; Footpaths; Trees, etc.
The first meeting focusing on wildlife & biodiversity and on Springdale Wood and the impact of housing development south of Butt Lane was held on 7th of May. A meeting on 11th of June will focus on the Environment. If you are interested, please contact Jack at EBCPGroup005@gmail.com
YOUTH & LEISURE/SPORTS GROUP Conveners – Gill Stevens & Douglas Sutherland
This will cover all Issues affecting the Youth of EB and also Leisure and Sports Facilities for All Ages.

2. RUSHCLIFFE OUTLINE PLANNING APPLICATION 19/00784/OUT
For the development of a site to the south of Butt Lane, East Bridgford for residential use.

Community Plan Policy on New developments
The vast majority of EB residents are opposed to any, but especially large scale, development into the Green Belt surrounding EB. However, if National and Borough policies as represented in the RBC Local Plan 2 impose expansion into the Green Belt on us, then the EB Community Plan contends that the Village must have a say in where and what type of development is authorized.
Community Plan Steering Groups Submission to RBC Planning
The CP Steering Group has studied this application in detail and has had the benefit of a helpful briefing by the developers (for a report on this meeting EB residents can e-mail their request to: EBCPGroup005@gmail.com).
In summary we consider that the developer's "Design and Access Statement and Master Plan" show a development with several favorable features:
*The planned layout allocates 0.65ha (25.7%) to green infrastructure (this includes the public footpath, internal footpaths, the tree buffer and a balancing pond for storm water runoff) and 1.88ha (74.3%) to residential development. The site density is 29 per hectare.
*The RBC Local Plan 2 requirements appear to be met: car park for EB Medical Centre; maintenance of rural character of Butt Lane; substantial tree buffer to the East; 30% affordable housing.
*The houses face on to access roads on the periphery, as a result Butt Lane and Springdale Wood are separated from housing by a broad strip.
*The planned road structure has an interesting hierarchy of 3 types which will help create a sense of place: "main street" including small central surfaced square; 2 smaller "lanes"; "shared private drives" for about half the homes.
*The 30% affordable housing (approx. 15 homes) is small enough to be integrated within the design and not a separate "ghetto".
The main criticism has to be:
*the significant further extension into the Green Belt, beyond that set out in the RBC Local Plan 2 with the number of houses increasing from around 45 to 53.

COMMUNITY PLAN UPDATE FEBRUARY 2019
Community Plan – Village Meeting Thursday 21st February Village Hall 7.30pm
The Village is facing many challenges: the building of 125 new houses in the Green Belt (at the time of writing we await the Planning Inspector's decision); traffic and parking problems that look like getting worse; the need to agree on a set of strategic priorities for improving the Village; the difficulty of making the Village's opinion heard by the Authorities.
This meeting is an opportunity for each villager to have a say in the Village's future:
• to discuss and ideally endorse the priorities set out in the latest Community Plan Report, which was based on the Village Appraisal, a questionnaire to all villagers;
• set up Action Groups to tackle the key priorities and if possible, agree on specific Action Plans

1. Community Plan Interim Report: June 2018
Rushcliffe Borough Council has published its Local Plan, which proposes 125 new homes in East Bridgford's Green Belt. As a result, the Community Plan Group has brought forward the publication of the Community Plan. It is in an interim format, without illustrations and maps, but with the full text.
A copy has been sent to the Parish Council and to some other interested parties. It is now publicly available and can be downloaded here:

This Interim Report summarises the findings of the 2016 Appraisals (the most extensive assessment yet of village opinion on a wide range of issues, including housing and the Green Belt) and proposes a series of policies.
We recommend villagers start by reading the four-page Executive Summary, before studying those sections that are of particular interest.
2. Community Plan Interim Report: The Evidence Base

Community Plan Update 16 March 2017 - The Green Belt
Rushcliffe Borough Council is preparing Local Plan Part 2 which will cover further policies and proposals for housing, Green Belt, employment, retail, open spaces and nature conservation.
Potential housing developments in the Green Belt surrounding East Bridgford were the subject of the RBC consultation event on 17th March in East Bridgford Village Hall.
EB residents now have until March 31st to submit comments to RBC.
The EB Community Plan Appraisal questionnaires tell us much about the village’s attitudes to development in EB and the Green Belt. So the Community Plan Group has summarised the data in the following report.
